Residents here on San Mateo County's coastside are committted to preserving the character and rural open spaces of our beautiful region. After all, we live here!

We also realize that one of the missions of the California Coastal Commission is to allow others to visit and enjoy our shoreline and other natural attractions.

The Coastal Commission's mission is to:

Protect, conserve, restore, and enhance environmental and human-based resources of the California coast and ocean for environmentally sustainable and prudent use by current and future generations.

LighthouseAlong with coastal city and county govenments, the Coastal Commission plans and regulates the use of land and water in the coastal zone. On our coastside, the Coastal Commission partners with City of Half Moon Bay and the County of San Mateo.

Other parners in planning inculde state agencies (the Coastal Conservancy, State Lands Commission, Parks and Recreation) and federal, regional and local park and recreation entities.
